All this leads up to the point the factory engine comes with around 9.2:1. The mag heads allow more compression. Then, the 4" stroker has a horrible short rod to stroke ratio. Scuffs pistons revs less etc. 3 benefits though.

WebApr 26, 2011 · 60195. I have run them both. The 100" is 4" x 4" and needed higher rpm to get my old heritage moving. The 88" is 3 5/8" bore x 4 1/4" stroke and seemed to make torque earlier. I never had either motor on the dyno, but the longer stroke of the 88" was definately noticable by the butt-o-meter. Both motors were fun. WebJul 31, 2008 · TJS69. Your 327 has a 4 inch bore, so yes, you could make it a 355 or a 383. (also a 302, for that matter). A 1965 327 has a small journal crank, that is a factory "forged" piece. Your engine builder is making a 355 or a 383 by changing the crankshaft to a longer stroke, and replacing the pistons to match.
