You have two clear choices to make here, 1. GM HEI from an I-6 engine, around '76 pickups will give you the remote coil instead of the coil in cap.

If you do an HEI upgrade, you have castrated the ECM and the CPU out of the equation. I actually used the orange wire going to the ECM to power my HEI distributor. Its like a 12ga. wire that is keyed power.
